Our stories - where we are now and where we have been

82 days in Costa Rica.....

Sitting on ”our” balcony in the peaceful hideaway hotel Luna Azul near playa Osteonal, I remember a Friday night dinner last year. Trying to be open minded and watch our present situation from a broad perspective, Stefan and I came to the conclusion that we were ready for a new family advendure abroad. The question was where did we want to go? Which part of the world interests us? Where is it exotic, adventureous and at the same time safe enough to settle down temporarely? We thought about Peru, India, Chile, Botswana and even considered returning to Austrailia or New Zealand once more. Many people ask us why we chose Costa Rica, and to be honest we have not got a straight answer. We think that the combination of this beautiful country’s flora and fauna, our friend Maria’s plan to travel and work in this part of the world, me longing for being closer to the balancing equator or just life itself bringing us here. However, we feel happy and grateful for having taken the step and giving ourselves this opportunity.
Now, more than on year later, I find myself in this haven near Nosara, where I am about to start an ”Inner Quest” Yoga Training tomorrow. I am here with my beloved husband on a romantic weekend with two-hour-dinners, healing massages, days filled with wonderful moments to remember. The only little cloud on my beautiful heaven is that I already miss Olivia, Denise and Vincent, who are together with grandma and grandpa in our Potrero home. And I won’t see them until next Saturday. It will be a real challenge!
And what about the everyday life in Guanacaste, the western region of Costa Rica? We enjoy pleasures like surfing (Denise already surfs like a pro....), wildlife with howling monkeys as an alarm clock, beautiful nature, friendly people and definitely no stress. Yes, there are times when we run around like crazy because we think we will be late for Vincent’s school, but somehow we always make it on time. And if we should not one day, there is no big deal. People are used to flat tires, too much water on the roads, small things hindering things from happening, changing plans. It is just part of life. The challenge is sometimes to entirely understand and accept this. Loosing control is scary, but very healthy to experience once in a while.
This far we have had so few hardships, that we cannot really call them problems. Adjusting to and trying to understand a new culture, allways contains some hard times. Vincent has had the biggest pressure on him with a bilingual school with new friends, new teachers and new routines. The school is dealing with this in a wonderful and impressive way. Soon Olivia and Denise will start La Paz School as well after three months of home schooling with teacher Stina. We are grateful to her being with us and teaching our girls. Another issue is missing our friends in Sweden and in other parts of the world. By saying this, also this means that we feel rich to have so many good friends around in our lives.
The project - micro credit financed training - will start for real a little bit later than planned. Suprised, anyone? Did not think so.... We look forward to starting the training with beauty specialist/teacher Maria as head of the education. Good luck, Maria!
In this harmonic environment, I am happy to be here and now. I will do my very best to appreciate and cherish the moments here.
Pura Vida,
Namaste,

A wonderful day out at sea with BRINDISI. Good memories! We had the chance to catch some tunas, a big-eyed Jack and to see a lot of marine wildlife. The dolphins came playing in the waves from the boat and a whale joined us for a few minutes along the way. Eduardo showed us how to dive for a type of oysters, from which he made fresh sushi aboard with wasabi and soy sauce - yum! As allways, Björn’s chest took most of the sun.....
